Since the very beginnings, i.e. 1990, Altix has allocated some of the profit to support the environment of the blind and the sight impaired. Due to the fact that the aid turned out to be substantial we decided to administer it by means of a foundation. We created it already in 1992. The Foundation was established at the initiative of various persons and assumed the name of Unia Pomocy Niepełnosprawnym – Szansa - The Union to Help the Disabled – Chance.

At the beginnings of its activity the Foundation was engaged with the assistance offered to all disabled, as it, in fact, united activities of lots of persons acting in various environment; however, in time it was decided that the Foundation would focus on the aid for the vision invalids. For many years now Altix has been the main sponsor of the Foundation. Yet the Foundation is a solely independent institution and Altix itself avoids any interference in its activity. The Foundation is managed by the Management Board, the Council of Founders, the Council of Sponsors and the Foundation president employed since the beginning of 2007, the person appointed for this post is Sylwester Peryt, ex-President of the Polish Association of the Blind, President of the State Council of the Disabled, a member of advisory bodies in the government.

What has the Foundation achieved?

- For dozens of years of its activity the Foundation trained hundreds of persons within computer operation skills.
- It has organized four international conferences Reha for The Blind in Poland combined with exhibitions of tylpho-IT equipment.
- It has organized a few smaller conferences related to modern rehabilitation of vision invalids.
- It has published a few significant rehabilitation and mathematical handbooks.
- It has provided financial aid to lots of individuals and institutions. This aid does not stand for large amounts of money since the Foundation is still a small institution, though it is still significant and reaches where most needed.
- The Foundation keeps a few consultation facilities where the blind and the sight impaired as well as their dear ones can turn for advice.

Where do the finances come from?

Altix is the main and regular sponsor, but there are also other institutions or private persons who provide their help. Apart from Altix the Ministry of National Education and Zbigniew Romaszewski, senator, who is a member of the Council of Sponsors of the foundation deserve particular gratitude.

At present the Foundation posts are as follow:
1. The Foundation seat is located in the building of BC PZN at Konwiktorska 7 in Warsaw
2. The Opole consultation facility is located in the seat of a local PZN at Damrota 6/1
3. The Kielce consultation facility is located in the office of a local PZN at Czerwonego Krzyza 3.
4. The Olsztyn consultation facility is located in another office of a local PZN at Mickiewicza 17/3
